The mechanism-of-action of Covid-19 is being understood a little better these days, at least we hope so, and with better understanding comes better treatment.
Current research based on autopsies in Italy point to the fact that the Covid-19 deaths (the actual deaths not the artificially inflated numbers) are related to other morbidity factors like: Diabetes, Hypertension, Obesity and Cardiac disease to name the major ones.
Typically, we see these Lifestyle diseases in the elderly which is why Covid-19 is dangerous in that particular group. The above-mentioned diseases are all inflammatory in nature which if you understand the physiology of inflammation then you will understand why Covid-19 causes more deaths in people with underlying inflammation already in place.
Chronic inflammation throughout the body = impaired function of the body (super simple explanation). If you are in a state of inflammation you cannot perform basic bodily functions adequately and as a result your body makes alternate plans to perform your normal daily functions. These compensations cannot be sustained. In a chronic state of inflammation, your body might be able to manage for a while, but will end up in a diseased state at some point ie: Diabets, Congestive heart failure, hypertension, cancer etc.
Covid-19 acts like a Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation (DIC) illness. What does that mean?
Basically, the virus uses an inflammatory storm to create an endothelial vascular thrombosis. Let me break that down a bit more…
Large scale inflammation leads to blood coagulating in the lungs and the patient suffocates and dies. Intubating a sick patient with a ventilator cannot help these patients which is why the vast majority of patients that get to the ventilator stage pass away. In fact, studies show that intubation actually increases inflammation in the airways which might actually hasten the patients demise when in this already inflamed state (read my previous blog on nebulizing).
Avoid inflammation: Refined foods, junk food, cigarettes, stress, alcohol, sugar, irritating neighbours, blue light/TV and computer screens, 5-G, other pollution etc = inflammation.
Keep your blood fluid and not sticky. Unhealthy blood is sticky, sticky blood = thrombosis (even without Covid-19) and thrombosis doesn’t usually end well.
