COVID-19 health facts

By March 24, 2020Awareness

Dear patients … Today we find ourselves in very uncertain times with most people reacting and making decisions out of fear and misinformation rather than listening to the facts. Yes, we’re dealing with things we never imagined we would be faced with in our lives. As South Africans we’re dealing with water shortages, power outages, social unrest, corruption and political collapse AND now the Global Pandemic of the Corona Virus.

Fact: In South Africa, we are in our second week and infection rates have gone up and they will continue to go up for a while still. Medical break-throughs are happening all around the world and vaccines are being tested right now.

Fact: Now is the time if ever there was a time, to take your vitamins and put down the cigarettes and refined sugar and make sure you can withstand the Corona virus.

Fact: Smoking increases the ACE-2 receptors in your lungs. Covid-19 binds to these receptors. Stop smoking, it’s a no brainer. Smoking increases your chances of getting it, AND increases the chances that if you get it, it will be a serious presentation.

Fact: Ibuprofen also increases ACE-2 receptors in your lungs. Do not take it. See above.

Fact: Vitamin C (intravenous if you can), Vitamin A, Zinc, Vitamin D and Iodine will keep you safe from getting the virus and if you get it, will minimize your risk of severity.

Fact: WORLD DEATH RATES ARE GOING DOWN.

Fact: Decisions made in fear are usually the wrong decision.

I am honoured to remain at work and to treat and care for my patients the best I can and we will continue to be available for those that need our services.

I am not scared of the virus, however I am scared of the fear response and the results of stock-piling and the potential financial fall-out. If you’re going to stock-pile, stock pile Vit-C not toilet paper.

The media reports on COVID-19 deaths daily, but just imagine if the media reported on all deaths daily! I do not mean to minimize how serious the virus is, it is extremely contagious and particularly dangerous to the elderly and sick. However, it is a flu virus that after all is said and done will see a recovery rate of nearly 99%. Most of those recoveries will be uneventful. Yes, people will die. Yes, we need to be cautious, but if ever there was a time to be healthy it is now. Health isn’t going to happen overnight but getting your mind out of the fear response trap will be a huge step. Eliminate sugar and stopping smoking while taking high dose Vit-C will dramatically protect you against this virus.

Fear of getting the Covid-19 virus is real for some, but the potential of financial fall-out is real for all. Social distancing combined with regular personal hygiene protocols described in this blog as well as nutritional support/supplements will be your saving grace.

Healthcare is important, so is community…and so is common sense. If you’re going to stock up on food, don’t buy junk. Cans of baked beans….maybe not the smartest move. Sugar makes you more susceptible to viruses and other diseases. Try eat fresh veggies and take your vitamins daily. Drink loads of water and get plenty of sleep.

My situation is no different and the financial effect on myself, my family and my staff and tenants will be the same for millions of South Africans and people all around the world. The Corona Virus will bankrupt more people than it will kill. This is a fact and many of us are waking up to the stark reality of this right now.

As a chiropractor I took an oath that included the paragraph below…

“I will serve my patient to the best of my ability, violating neither his confidences nor his or her dignity, and in my association with patients I shall not violate that which is moral and right.”

…which is why I will remain in practice as long as I am legally allowed to interact with patients. Our hours might have to be limited, but we will try to make ourselves available to those that need our services. To facilitate this and take into consideration the financial impact that this virus is having on all of us, I am offering a 50% discount to those that need the financial relief (only those that need the financial relief) for the rest of this month and if things continue like this, I will continue this special through April and beyond if necessary. I was just about to launch a free clinic in Oceanview with a few other local chiros, but obviously that has been put on the back burner. Saying this, if you know of someone in need from that community (or other impoverished communities), I will gladly offer that service from my private practice until we can move forward with our original plan.

What can you do?

  • Eat a healthy diet free of refined foods.
  • Stop smoking and do not take IBUPROFEN: Both smoking and Ibuprofen increase the ACE-2 receptors in your lungs, the binding site for COVID-19.
  • Maintain hydration.
  • Gargle with an iodine solution. Lugol’s Iodine: 3 drops in a glass of water, gargle and swallow 3+ times daily.
  • Take your vitamins: Daily multi, Vit A, Vit D, Vit C (intravenous if possible), Iodine (3-4 drops Lugol’s iodine daily)
  • Take Vitamin C: High-dose vitamin C can not only improve antiviral levels, but more importantly, can prevent and treat acute lung injury (ALI) and acute respiratory distress (ARDS).

It is time to take your health care into your own hands. Lead a healthier lifestyle and find a doctor who can help guide you in a holistic treatment program.

Take care and stay safe.
